Professional Experience



Mr. La Scala possesses significant experience in insurance, construction defect, real estate and contract disputes. His areas of practice include all aspects of pre-litigation and litigation of construction defects, as well as a comprehensive understanding of insurance coverage, claims and operations arising out of commercial general liability and property policies. He commenced his legal career with the representation of developers, architects, engineers and subcontractors in complex multi-party construction defect proceedings.


In addition to the representation of national property casualty carriers, as part of his practice, he has also represented individuals and businesses with respect to their pursuit of bargained for insurance benefits, as well as contract disputes involving a broad spectrum of issues. He was instrumental in the recovery of over $30,000,000 in insurance proceeds on behalf of a national property casualty carrier arising from construction defect litigation.


Mr. La Scala’s expertise was established when he joined the Travelers Property Casualty as a Regional Director where he was responsible for construction defect claim operations in the Southwestern United States, including, Nevada and Arizona. His role with Travelers then expanded to Litigation Director, where he oversaw insurance litigation, including extra contractual, subrogation, contribution and declaratory relief actions throughout the United States. With a comprehensive background in construction defect litigation, claims handling and coverage issues, he moved into private practice and represented individuals and businesses in complex commercial litigation, including multi-party insurance bad faith and contract disputes.
